There are some great day trip options requiring just half day or full day to explore the nearby area. These trips can be set up with just a few hours notice. Materuni Waterfall & Coffee Farm Tour
This is a very popular trip. Departing from your hotel we drive to a small village on the lower elevation of Mt Kilimanjaro, just outside of the National Park border. In the fresh mountain air, you will learn about the Chagga tribe, have a hands-on lesson in coffee cultivation and processing. Afterwards you will go on a hike to the beautiful Materuni Waterfall where you will have a chance to explore the area and go for a swim (if you don't mind the glacier-melt water). The local women will prepare a lunch featuring traditional Chagga foods. Afterwards we will drive you back to your hotel. This is typically a six hour event.

Kiluletwa Hot Springs
A drive through some small villages brings you to this area. The beautiful hot spring is nestled into the forest, and features naturally warm water heated from the earth, ancient tree roots and diving caves. Great for relieving tired muscles after conquering Kilimanjaro, but you don't really need an excuse to relax and enjoy. You can refresh yourself in the water and it is safe to swim. Don't mind the small fishes nibbling at dry skin cells - they are harmless. Lunch and beverages will be brought for you to enjoy before we return you back to your hotel. This is a popular day trip option for those who want to kick back and relax in nature.

Kilimanjaro Day Hike (non-summit)
If you want a taste of what a Kilimanjaro trek would be like, there are options for a one day trek inside of Kilimanjaro National Park. You can have your choice of trekking on Marangu Route or Shira Route. A Marangu Route hike starts at the Marangu Park Gate (1860m). From there you will trek through the tropical rain-forest up to Mandara Hut (2700m) where you will have lunch. From there you can continue a little further to Maundi Crater (2780m) to look at the wonderful view before we hike back to the park gate where your vehicle will take you back to the hotel. If you choose the Shira Route, you will be transported by vehicle to the highest starting point of any Kilimanjaro Route - the Morum Barrier at 3,400m. From there you will hike to the Shira Plateau (3,700m). You have the option of continuing further to Cathedral Point (3,800m) before hiking back to the park gate where your vehicle will return you to your hotel.

One Day Safari
There is some excellent safari experiences which require only one day. Arusha, Tarangire, Lake Manyara, or Mkomazi National Parks are all possible as a day safari. Ngorongoro Crater is also possible but is a lot of driving so a very early departure is needed. With your safari guide you will leave early in the morning, after breakfast at your hotel and drive to your chosen destination for safari viewing. You will have a picnic-style lunch break during the game viewing and will start back home in the mid-afternoon. We will help you choose which park is best according to your interests and time of the year.
